VALE OF YORK ACADEMY IS PART OF

Moving from Primary to Vale of York Academy

We are well aware of the possible worries linked to moving up to secondary school.

To alleviate anxieties, we have a planned programme, worked out in consultation with our partner primary schools. As well as developing stronger links between the schools through teacher visits and meetings to discuss the curriculum, we invite all of our potential students to join us for various events in school. We also run two open weeks during the school year, one for Year 6 parents and students during September / October and one for Year 5 parents and students in June / July. This gives a view of the school in action.

We also sustain strong links with our partner primary schools. Our facilities, for example our Technology rooms, the Astro Turf and our music equipment, are available to partner schools. Our staff also host master classes for students throughout the school year. This is a great aid to the ‘familiarisation’ process.
