When I was a student at Canon Lee school I wasn’t the most athletic and was always on the chunkier side of the guys at school. I was regularly picked towards the end of team sports yet I always had a passion for sport especially contact sport. After Canon Lee I progressed onto York College where I studied hard through my A Levels and also worked hard to lose weight and get a lot fitter as I aspired to play at higher levels of sport (originally rugby union was my passion). I then moved to Middlesbrough to study at Teesside University where I signed up and tried out for the American Football team, here I found a new passion and I have become the Teesside University’s Quarter back and one of the Captains of the team, with an invitation this September to trial for the North Great Britain American football team to get one step closer to the GB team. Basically my message to every student currently at Vale of York Academy is no matter your size, weight, personality or interests, follow what you want to achieve and with dedication and hard work it will happen.
