Taster days take place every July and are designed to give you an idea of what daily life is like in Vale of York Academy.
You will arrive here and be met in the Hall by your Year Learning Leader and form tutor. You will then have an opportunity to meet your form group.
A tour of the school will take place and also time to meet and talk with existing students so that they can ask any questions that you have and get a feel for the building and its grounds.
During the day you will spend be on a sample timetable. This sample timetable may include Geography, English, PE, Languages, Science, Drama and many more. These are planned and delivered just like a normal school lesson so that you can see what daily lessons are like.
During break and lunchtime you will have a chance to wander and explore the school.
At the end of the day you will get a Vale of York student survival bag, containing information about your school, a school map, a student survival guide and a small treat.
We want to ensure that students become as comfortable at Vale of York as they can as soon as possible, so we put a number of additional events in place to allow our new students to become familiar with the school site and some of our staff.
When music and dramas productions are taking place feeder primary schools are regularly invited to come and watch
We hold workshops in various subject areas to do exciting activities such as Harry Potter Science and Horrible Histories.
We understand that some students find the move to secondary school more difficult than others, so we ensure that additional support is there for you during your move to Vale of York Academy.
